Visit to Deutsche Börse, Frankfurt
On February 3rd students from the graduate school and associated institutes were invited to visit the Deutsche Börse Group, who runs the biggest exchange in Germany, namely the Deutsche Börse in Frankfurt.
After a warm welcome at the Bull and Bear statue outside the building every one of us had to pass the security area to enter the exchange building in the city centre of Frankfurt. There we were introduced into the history and the structure of the exchange and into the business areas of the Deutsche Börse Group.
After visiting the trading floor, which was surprisingly empty, we went to the new building outside the city centre where the Deutsche Börse Group is hosted. There we had to pass another security area before we got a guided tour of the modern business building. The architecture offers transparency and wide areas for informal sit-togethers for project discussions. This architecture stands for the international orientation and the open atmosphere within the company.
After lunch we heard a talk on Deutsche Börse as employee and career opportunities at Deutsche Börse Group.
The event was closed by an open discussion with Dr. Martin Steinbach who answered many questions that came up during the day.
The day was very exciting and offered good insights into the structure and usiness areas of an exchange. |
